Friday October 16, 2009

Well, today we drove up to Denver, Colorado to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Why Denver? Well, we have been wanting to see Wicked, and Denver was the closest place. So, we left the girls and drove 9 hours through the Rocky Mountains to Denver. After we got checked into The Fairfield Inn At Cherry Creek, Denver, we walked around to see what there was. Not much. Village Inn. So, we went to VI and ate, then got some pie to bring back to the room (I got a slice of Banana Cream, and Dave- Peanut Butter Chocolate) Ate our yummy pie while watching I am Legend. Neither of us slept very good that night, but we were VERY excited to be there and doing something together! We were really looking forward to this trip since we booked it back in August. Happy Anniversary to us!

Well, today we got up drove to the Cherry Creek Mall. We shopped around for a little while, and through the Farmers Market, then back to the hotel. We took the train downtown to Elitch Gardens them park, owned by Six Flags. We got there around 12:30, and rode some amazingly fun rides! And yes, it was so nice not to have kids, strollers, purses, sippy cups and treats to keep track of! Just me and Dave. We rode a few of our favorites over and over ( The Mind Eraser, Boomerang, Rock and Roll, an the Half Pipe) We stayed there until about 7, then went back to our hotel. Stopped at the Village Inn and had dinner with our waitress from the night before. Got some pie - again- to take back to our room (Pumpkin Pie and Dave- Coconut Cream) Slept a lot better than the night before. That was a REALLY fun day!!!!

Sunday October 18, 2009

On Sunday, we got up and got breakfast at the hotel, then layed in bed until 11 watching Apollo 13. We finally got up and took the train downtown. We walked on 16th Street where the whole street are stores and restaurants. We sat on a bench and ate Jimmy Johns! Then we walked along the beautiful trail along side the river. It was so pretty. We got tickets to the Downtown Aquarium. We loved seeing all the fish, sharks, and my favorite- the tiger. After that, we walked along the College Campus, then took the train back to the hotel. We got dressed up to go back downtown to go see Wicked. We ate dinner at Chili's downtown, then went to the show at 7:30 that night. Wow! All I can say is WOW! That show was amazing. The music is great, and those performers were incredible. It was so fun to go with Dave. What a fun day we had today. I would LOVE to go see that show again.
We didn't get back to the hotel until about 11PM. REALLY late for us! We ate our Oreos and Milk in our bed (tradition now since we did that in Boston). What a great day!!!

We got up and drove the LONG 9 hour drive home. As nice as it is to go away, it sure is nice to be home. Thanks to Mom, Dad, Ferron and Linda for watching the girls and feeding the animals while we were gone!

A Week to Remember

I started doing this blog as a journal/ scrapbook. I thought that I should jot down a few things that have happened in this last year (it was a very sad, hard and stressful year) This is Maggie, our Yellow Lab, who we got for FREE just after we got married. She was the BEST dog anyone could have ever had. She was perfect with the girls as babies. She grew up with Rylee. Maggie loved the snow, swimming, running in the hills as we got Christmas trees, and being with the family. We could take her anywhere, and she would be perfect. She died last year about this time. We were so upset. Dave especially. He loved that dog. We all did. She was a part of our family for 8 1/2 years. She moved with us, she was there for all three of the girls to come home to. We miss her so much. We love you Maggie!

And this is what happens after swimming lessons!

Laney has been taking swimming lessons over at the rec. center. She has gotten a lot braver. She was so cute to watch.

Laney and her friend Eliza that took lessons with her. I should have gotten a picture with Andrea (Eliza's mom) and I drinking our Diet Cokes while we watch the girls swim. Isn't that the reason we put them in swimming lessons anyway? :)

Laney's new outfit! She has been into these boots lately- has even worn them to school- and this lovely slip, passed down from Pyper!

It was a cold and rainy day, so the girls got on jackets (they wanted coats) and umbrellas, and played outside in the rain!

In the Begining.......

Dave and I met in January 1999 at a Dixie College Basketball game. He was there watching a friend on the team, and my friends and I were there to be social. He was finished with college and had moved back home to work for the BLM for the winter. He and his friends came over to talk to us, and we invited them over to our apartment for a little dance party (which we called "Area 21"). After that night,we saw eachother every day. We spent our nights making brownies and watching The Golden Girls. By March, we were talking about marriage, and were engaged by August (officially) the ring was a huge ordeal! It was a long summer for us as he stayed in Washington to work for the BLM doing fires, and I moved back home to Sandy to lifeguard. Dave got his first teaching job at West Jordan Middle School, so he moved up about 1 week before school started.
We got married on Ocotber 1, 1999 in the Salt Lake Temple. What an amazing day. I remember it just like it was yesterday (Dave could have gone without all the pictures) We then had a luncheon at Gardner Village, followed by a recption at Willow Creek Country Club. Two days later we left on a cruise for our honeymoon.
We lived in Salt Lake for 3 years where we had beautiful baby Rylee. Then we moved to Washington and bought our first house, where Pyper and Laney came to our family.
In the last 10 years, we have had so many good times and many hard times as well. Loss of many loved ones, including Maggie after 8 1/2 years with her, and the 2 miscarriages, and Dave's stroke. We have bought 2 houses, paid off 4 cars, and have raised 3 beautiful, good little girls.
I couldn't have asked for a better husband, father and friend. Dave truly is my best friend. I am so lucky and blessed to have been with him all these years. I am so proud of us for all that we have been through and accomplished in these last 10 years. I look forward to the many more years to come, and all eternity to be with him. I love you so much Dave. Happy Anniversary!
